trerife.jpgJohn B Anderson 1945 - 1997 from June 6 - July 4

John was born in Glasgow but within the year his family moved to London, where they welcomed into their home many of the literary and artistic figures of the time.   The family moved to a hill farm in Devon when John was eight years old.

He attended Foxhole School in Dartington followed by a brief and turbulent time at Exeter College of Art.

John’s mental instability, a factor in his life for many years, was finally alleviated by applying a prescription given by an eminent psychiatrist, to ‘put a roof over his head, supply him with art materials, give him a small allowance and he will cure himself’, which indeed he did.

One Year On - the Falmouth Graduates show - 28th May 2009 - 30th June 2009

Monkey Puzzle - by George MorganOpening on Thursday the 28th May we are delighted to be exhibiting the work of four very talented individuals who all graduated from Falmouth College of Art last year. We were so struck by the quality of the work at last year's degree show that we hit upon the idea of a group show, 'One Year On...' to give these graduates something tangible to aim for during that difficult first year after leaving college.

Lawrence Weiner has also been invited to propose a temporary public work for the area in the next year, inspired by the Tidal Observatory in Newlyn Harbour.

Throughout the exhibition there will be a programme of Wednesday lunchtime talks. They will focus on the role, use and importance of the Tidal Observatory, the impact of tidal surges and the regeneration and development of Newlyn's fishing community. Further details of the talks will be avialable on our EVENTS page shortly.
