The earl and Countess of Wessex will be visiting Newlyn on Monday, April
25. Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie - who have both visited West Cornwall
or the Isles of Scilly in the past two years - will perform separate duties
whilst in the port.
The Earl will be taken on a guided tour of the harbour area and will
be told of Newlyn Forum's ambitious multi-million pound projects for the
port which include a new fish market, housing within the port and alterations
and improvements to the harbour itself.
The Countess will be visiting other schemes in Newlyn.
This is the Countess's first visit to the area since June 2003 when she
visited St Levan where she opened a newly restored stretch of coastal
path as part of Royal Tourism Day and visited the Minack Theatre.
During his visit to the Isles of Scilly in April 2004, the Earl of Wessex
met the islands' fisheries officer Mark Pender, visited the local school
and officially opened the tourist office.
