Newlyn fish merchant, Robin Turner, has launched a new fuel and lubricant
supply firm in the heart of the port. Newline Fuels Ltd, which Robin has
started with his business partner, Kevin Bennetts of Consols Oils, is
based on the quayside at Newlyn and includes a nearby gear store and ship's
husbandry service to turn around fishing vessels in the quickest possible
time.
The gear store is managed by Robin Turner's son, Neal, and it is already
drumming up a significant amount of trade.
Mr Turner said: "Basically we are here to offer a service to fishing
boats that will allow them to turn around as quickly as possible - we
are all aware of how fishing time is critical.
"We can supply all forms of fuel, lubricant and greases, and we
have a significant amount of fishing gear in stock, such as gloves and
oilskins. And if we haven't got what the skipper or crewman wants, we
operate a 24-hour ordering service to get the gear to the quayside whenever
it is required."
Manager Neal Turner added: "We can service boats of all sizes and
offer a range of gear to small inshore boats up to large trawlers. We
have the latest equipment and will respond to what the customer wants."
