The Duchy Fish Quota Company's fund-raising calendar, Return of the Naked
Fishermen, has proved to be a winner for the second year running. Calendar
sales have so far grossed £17,000, providing a profit of more than
£12,000 to keep Cornwall fishing.
Thanks to the bravery of 23 naked fishermen from Newlyn and other Cornish
ports, and their strategically placed locally-caught fish, the calendar
has enjoyed record sales.
The money raised will be used to purchase fish quota which will be leased
on an annual basis to local fishermen.
This will add to the package of quota bought by the Duchy Fish Quota
Company in 2003.
DFQC fundraiser Fiona Osman said: "We are delighted with the response
to the calendar and very grateful to everyone who bought a copy, to St
Austell Brewery who generously supported part of the costs, to Absolute
Design who gave support in kind with the design and production of the
calendar, and our intrepid photographers who took to the high seas in
search of their prey.
"The money raised will help the Duchy Fish Quota Company to buy
more quota ensuring that more fish is landed in Cornwall by local fishermen."
Unsold copies, at a reduced price of £4 plus £1 postage and
packaging, are available from: DFQC, Trevint House, Strangways Terrace,
Truro, TR1 2PA
