house of fairy talesExquisite Trove 23rd July - 2nd October 2010

Exquisite Trove is a collaboration between The House of Fairy Tales and Newlyn Art Gallery, with artist Hadrian Pigott.  Inspired by cabinets of curiosities or Wunderkammer, this exhibition is an exploration of the human desire to collect, display and tell stories with objects and images.  They reflect our personal histories and a fascination with the imagined lives of others.

The exhibition is an amalgamation of the House of Fairy Tales' touring collection of significant and treasured items from artists, and an eclectic selection of strange and wonderful objects loaned from 10 local museums.  The combination of artwork, treasured possessions and museum artefacts provokes fascinating and intriguing interpretations.

Throughout the exhibition there will be storytelling areas, books and activities for children of all ages that will inspire new narratives about the objects on display.

Can you put Taking Space exhibition on your Blog? It is as follows

Press Release : Taking Space at The Tolcarne Inn

Ten Taking Space artists are showing small gems from their ouevres at The Tolcarne Inn during August.
Mary Fletcher’s small vibrant expressive dancer features on the poster, and came from a drawing done during a ballet performance at the Hall for Cornwall.
Joan Ford has a sensitive deft touch in her corners of Kimberley Park in subtle greens. Karen Smith produces landscapes with a lively attack and Helen Atkins continues her fascination with sea using striking blues.
Sonia Sjoholm, Sara Pound, Jean Ross, Kate Penn, Beverley Morgante le Levier, and Diana Verboom complete this varied show of affordable work in Taking Space’s 61st show.
The Tolcarne Inn offers excellent Sunday lunches with great modern jazz live and is convenient for visiting the Newlyn Gallery.

This is a great effort by the gallery team and is by far the best NSA exhibition I remember seeing. Congratulations to all those involved.
