The organisers of a concert to raise money for the Newlyn man charged with his parents' murder in Greece will hold a second event in his support this weekend.Ryan Johnson, 33, remains on bail in Crete following the deaths of Jo and Terry Johnson in April. He has vigorously denied the accusations and continues to be involved in an expensive legal battle to clear his name.

In August a group of local performers who had worked with the former dance teacher held a concert to help fund his fight.

They say that in response to "overwhelming local support" a second variety concert will take place at Mount's Bay School this Saturday, November 25, for the Johnson Appeal.

A spokesperson said: "Ryan is awaiting trial in 2008 for the murder of his parents on the Greek island of Crete. Until the trial, Ryan's family are supporting him from here."

The concert is being organised by a friend of Ryan's, Dawn Maddern, who says it is her way of helping the family financially and showing Ryan the support and campaigning spirit of his home town.

Ryan and Dawn first met when he was a member of the TenSing choir, who will perform at Saturday's concert, and of which Dawn is the leader.

Dawn said: "The local support for Ryan has been truly phenomenal. We have already held one concert which raised over £1,400 and for which we could have sold the tickets three times over.

"Once again, this concert will be videoed and sent to Ryan. This is just as important as the money raised as it is a way of showing Ryan the local support and of keeping him in touch with his family and friends."

As well as TenSing the show will include performances by members of the Fiona Richardson School of Dance, MiniSing and the Marie Foster School of Dance.

* The concert begins at 7pm at Mount's Bay School and tickets are £5 from Brenda Fox on 01736 330 726.
