The all-weather lifeboat Ivan Ellen was called out to assist the Newlyn
fishing vessel Algrie on January 22.Weather conditions were extremely
poor and some of the trawler's wheelhouse windows had been smashed in
by a large wave.
Setting off at 8.30pm, the lifeboat rendezvoused with the Algrie about 27 miles south east of Newlyn.
The conditions on scene and on the way back were exceptionally rough, with a north-easterly gale and waves of 4-5 metres.
Ivan Ellen stood escort as the Algrie made her way slowly home and both vessels arrived safely back in Newlyn at about midnight.
