How can we create a vibrant, resilient and sustainable Penwith? That's
the question being asked at an Open Space event at Newlyn Community
Centre, Chywoone Hill, this Saturday following yesterday's screening of
the award-winning film A Crude Awakening - The Oil Crash.
The
film is described by Jennifer Gray, founder of Transition Penwith,
which is organising the two events, as "a thrilling wake-up call to the
inconceivable challenges that we are all going to have to face as oil
and gas become ever more scarce".
Ms Gray hopes the film will
motivate people to attend Saturday's Open Space event, where they can
begin to address the dual challenge of peak oil and climate change at a
local level.
Ms Gray added: "Open Space is an extraordinary and
powerful tool that is used successfully around the world to build
solutions to seemingly intractable problems.
"We are bringing
this process to Penwith for the first time, to answer the question:
'How can we create a vibrant, resilient and sustainable Penwith?'
"Everyone
is welcome, for an hour or the whole day, to participate in this unique
event, so come along and be part of the solution."
* The Open
Space event takes place this Saturday, May 12, from 10am to 4pm, at
Newlyn Community Centre, Chywoone Hill. Please bring food to share.
This event is free and open to all. For more details please visit www.transitionpenwith.com
