The future role of W Stevenson & Sons in Newlyn's decision-making
process was not discussed at a forum held on Tuesday, May 8.The fishing
firm admitted 37 charges of submitting false sales notes to DEFRA at
Exeter Crown Court on Friday, April 13.
Tony
Woodhams, Newlyn fisheries project officer, last month told The
Cornishman that a decision would be made about the position of the
fishing firm in the forum after members had the chance to discuss it.
In
a statement to The Cornishman this week, Mr Woodhams said: "The Newlyn
Fish Industry Forum and its Executive is an inclusive body and is not
in the business of excluding any of its members.
"It is not the place of the forum to discuss the business affairs of any members not present.
"It
is a matter for the individual to decide whether the probity of the
committee and its decision-making process is compromised by their
presence, and in particular if they feel able to fully participate in
the business agenda of the meeting."
