Badcocks Gallery has been honoured by a visit from one of the UK's
best-known artists, Sir Peter Blake. The Newlyn gallery is currently
exhibiting a series of his prints entitled Love, a portfolio of limited
edition diamond dust pieces created by the artist in 2004.
Nickie
Carlyon of Badcocks said of the prints: "People love them; the diamond
dust on the pictures is sparkly, and people love it when they see it as
it doesn't show up that well on the internet pictures."
Of the
exhibition she said: "Everyone has been very enthusiastic and several
local people have bought prints, which is good. It's important to have
local support; we still have a week to go so hopefully more people will
pay us a visit."
Sir Peter enjoyed his visit to Cornwall, said
Nickie, and was pleased to see Newlyn as a working port. He was also
able to visit the beautiful scenery of Zennor.
"His visit was a real pleasure," said Nickie.
"He was thoroughly entertaining company, full of witty, fascinating anecdotes, yet really a very modest, quietly spoken man."
* Love by Sir Peter Blake at Badcocks Gallery continues until June 6.
