Quadriplegic sailor Geoff Holt sailed from Falmouth to Newlyn on
Tuesday on his bid to be the first disabled person to sail around the
coast of Great Britain.Geoff, aged 41, from Hampshire, started the
voyage, which he refers to as his "personal Everest", from Southampton
on May 20.
Paralysed as the result of a swimming accident when he was just 18 years old, Geoff was by then an experienced sailor.
Geoff's
wife, Elaine, a former nurse, is part of the support team, driving one
of the motor homes to each port, and is accompanied by their
five-year-old son, Timothy.
Geoff was due to leave Newlyn yesterday and sail around Land's End to St Ives or Bude, depending on the strength of the wind.
