This year Newlyn Raft Race will take place on August 26th
from 12.00 to 4.00 pm. Motley crews dressed with
great flare will paddle their rafts to victory in what has become an
increasingly nail-biting competition held to raise money for the Newlyn Harbour
lights Christmas display. Do not miss!

Official Rules
- There
will be two races, the first juniors aged between 11 & 16 years, the
second for all over 16 years. All
entrants in the children race must wear life jackets an the is the
responsibility of the adults in charge of the raft.
- All
competitors should be competent swimmers and children must have parental
permission.
- Life
jackets are recommended for all entrants
- The
junior race is at 2.00pm and the adult race at 2.30 approximately.
- All
rafts must be man-made to qualify, to keep the true spirit of the race
alive and to encourage creativity and reward the ingenuity in the building
of the rafts. The decision of the beach master upon the eligibility of the
rafts is absolute and final.
- Fancy
dress though not obligatory is invited.
- ALL ENTRANS SHOULD REGISTER WITH THE
BEACHMASTER PRIOR TO THE RACE WITH SPONSORSHIP FORMS AND MONIES. YOU ARE
ADVISED TO COLLECT CASH COMMITMENTS UPON SIGNATURE.
- Raft
without sponsorship will pay £20.00 entry fee.
- All
rafts will be numbered for identification by the beach master at
registration.
- An
audible signal will be sounded for the start of each race.
- The
throwing of dangerous missiles will result in disqualification.
- Drinking
prior to the raft race could be dangerous and may result in an accident.
- The
winners must report to the beach master immediately after the race.
- It
is the responsibility of the entrants to
ensure that all rafts are removed from the sea, beach and harbour
immediately after the race and disposed properly.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD RAFTS ENTER OR BE PLACED IN OR LEFT IN THE
HARBOUR AT ANY TIME!
Entrants agree to comply with the rules of the Port and
Beach Authority and will be answerable to them.
