This October the Arts Festival will
take off in a flutter of kites and streamers.
The theme is Writing in
the Air, and painters, singers, actors, musicians, sculptors, dancers,
poets, textile artists and story-tellers will be putting on
exhibitions, performances and events on the streets and public spaces
of the village on October 12, 13 and 14.
Organisers
are appealing for all artists, photographers and film makers, as well
as less well-known artists, writers and performers, and craftspeople,
to join in the fun.
Susannah Clemence, who is organising the
event, said: "We would also like to hear from anyone who can offer
space in which to show this type of work. Painting and sculpture will
be exhibited in the wonderful white space of the Tolcarne Motors
showroom, thanks to the proprietor Roger Harding.
"Make-up and costume artists should also be represented in the
festival, so if you like dressing up, or dressing other people, please
think of how you could show off your talents that weekend, and let us
know."
Suzanna can be contacted on 01736 333846.
Meanwhile,
writer and performer, Angela Stoner, is will bring the written word
into line with the theme and would like to hear from anyone who has a
washing-line that is visible from the street, and who can spare some
space on it over that weekend. Call her on 01736 363146.
The Newlyn Fish Industries Forum have donated £250 towards the event.
Organisers hope that the rest of the small budget can be met with the help of local businesses and individuals.
Those interested in helping the events should contact fundraiser Maura Thompson of the Tolcarne Inn on 01736 363074
