A Newlyn fishing boat with engine problems was towed back to its home harbour by the Penlee lifeboat 'Paul Alexander'.
The
vessel had broken down near Mousehole Island when the call was received
through Falmouth Coastguard at around 6am last Tuesday.
The
volunteer crew of the Atlantic class inshore lifeboat launched in a
very short time, and, on arrival, a crewman was placed on board the
fishing vessel and quickly diagnosed the fault.
A tow rope was passed to the casualty vessel which was then taken in tow, returning to Newlyn harbour at approximately 7am.
Penlee RNLI Helmsman Patch Harvey says everyone reacted well to ensure the rescue was successful.
"The skipper of the vessel acted sensibly in alerting Falmouth Coastguard early before the incident worsened," he said.
"Once
again the inshore lifeboat was launched quickly at a time when the
majority of the volunteer crew would have still been in bed."
The
crew of the lifeboat included 'Patch' Harvey (helm), Ben Keogh and Will
Treneer along with shore helpers Paul Carne (tractor driver) Zac
Haining and Julia Rescorla Ryan.
