If you head to Newlyn on August Bank Holiday Monday you can enjoy a
whole host of seafood and family entertainment surrounding Cornwall's
fishing industry.
Inside the traditional setting of Newlyn Fish Market,
representatives from Tregida Smokehouse, London's Moshi Moshi, The Goan
Seafood Company and many others will be offering a wide range of
seafood dishes such as sushi, sashimi, seafood paella, smoked seafoods,
fish curries and more.
The
Newlyn Fish Festival promises to offer visitors a fun-packed, family
day out in the wonderful setting of Newlyn Harbour opened this year by
skipper John Buchan, featured by the BBC popular series Trawlermen.
Some
of Cornwall's top chefs host the popular cooking and fish filleting
demos. Learn all the tricks of the trade, see the famous fish display
and then bid for your supper at the ever popular fish auction
To
complement the festival, exhibitors shall be offering quality local
produce such as Artisan Breads from Blue Mango, award-winning
dressings, marinades, sauces, chutneys and mayos from Kernewek Herb
Kitchen, local cheddar from Worthy Farm, along with Cornish Meadow
Preserves and Maria's Mexican Salsas.
To further highlight the
positive regeneration and investment in Newlyn Harbour, a model and
presentation of the new £7 million fish market by architects Pringle
Richards and Sharratt will be on public display.
All this and
more will take place on Monday with the Camborne Youth Band, male voice
choirs and others providing an accomplished soundtrack to one of
Cornwall's finest days out.
