Singing can give great satisfaction and be a great
way to meet new people, says Newlyn male voice choir in a message to
those who may be interested in singing but feel a bit daunted by the
prospect of joining a choir.
"We know that there are men out there who
would get great pleasure and satisfaction from singing but who are,
understandably, unsure about taking the first steps," said choir
secretary Bryan Marshall.
The choir will hold its first rehearsal of
the new year on Monday, January 7, at 7.30pm, at the Centre, Chywoone
Hill, Newlyn, instead of its usual home at the Fishermen's Mission. "So
long as you can sing a tune, in tune, take an interest in experimenting
with types of music you may not have heard before and enjoy meeting a
bunch of friendly blokes, you'll like it," said Mr Marshall.
The choir
sings a variety of music, including religious, some older but popular
songs, tunes from the shows and even arrangements of modern music. The
current age range is from 20 upwards and anybody from teenage up is
welcome. Contact Penzance 361189.
