HIGHER fuel prices have forced a Newlyn fishing firm to make 16 of its staff redundant.
W Stevenson & Sons said the redundancies were regrettable and would affect all areas of business.
A
press release stated that while the company is committed to continue to
play a major role, the redundancies were necessary to safeguard the
jobs of the remaining employees and fishermen.
Representatives
from the Newlyn fishing industry are in a meeting with the Marine
Fisheries Agency this afternoon to discuss the future of the fishing
port.
