KEIR Meikle, owner-chef of the Navy Inn in
Penzance, has a double reason to celebrate as he's been short-listed
for not one but two major awards organised by Seafish UK.
The
Navy has been nominated by Seafood Cornwall for the Seafood Pub of the
Year category while Keir himself has been nominated as Seafood Chef of
the Year in the Seafood Awards 2009 competition. Modestly, Keir
(pictured left, with chef Jay Orley) said: "Using fresh Newlyn fish
caught by local suppliers means that we're cooking fish that are as
good as you're going to get anywhere – but it's fabulous to be
nominated for two important awards."
Keir and his team will travel to the Grosvenor Hotel in London in May to see whether they've scooped a national title
