Making a big impression Print E-mail

A NEW exhibition at the Royal Cornwall Museum in Truro is making a big impression.

The canvases on display are large, very colourful and certainly thought-provoking. Most depict animals living in a very human world.

A zebra standing on a table, for example, or a monkey on a bar stool. They are unsettling images to look at but they do make visitors think – and that is exactly what artist Mark J Nicholls, who lives in Newlyn, wants them to do.

"I have found myself gripped by the need to paint and make images that reflect this, to create images that are strong, arresting and, perhaps inevitably, ask more questions than they answer.

His exhibition runs at the Museum until April 24. For more information, visit www.royalcornwallmuseum.org.uk
