A CHARITY that helps the old and vulnerable in Newlyn has marked its 25th anniversary.
Christian Helpline's volunteer drivers take people to hospital, offer practical support and a listening ear.
Over the years it has grown with support from St Peter's and Trinity Methodist churches and in the past year it has been busy taking 1,676 calls to the helpline, arranging over 1,000 hospital trips and 150 visits by befrienders.
At a meeting of the group, retiring secretary Christine Owen and committee member Elizabeth Matthieson were each presented with a bouquet of flowers by the Rev Philip Williams, vice chairman of the charity.
To mark the silver anniversary a commemorative mug has also been produced which is being sold to raise funds for the charity.
