MORE than 450 swimmers took to the water off Newlyn Green on Friday night, smashing previous records for the annual Yacht Inn Swim.
Almost 400 adult competitors in wetsuits, plus Bilbo the surf lifesaving dog, lined up for the start of the 1,300m race to the Jubilee Pool slip in brilliant sunshine in front of a calm Mount's Bay. Another 60 youngsters were involved in the junior 1,100m race.
The event has been running for over a decade and is organised by Nick Brooks, who hopes to have raised more than £1,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support. The event has grown in popularity over the years and is now one of the highlights of the summer calendar. Jack Middleton was first home in the long distance swim, with Neil Eddy in second place and Kyle Kearey placed third.
First for the ladies was Natasha Diment, with Sasha Osborne in second and Kerry Blewett in third.
