Newlyn is "ripe for development" due to its picturesque setting and atmosphere, Rick Stein told the Cornishman as he opened the Fish festival this year.
The celebrity chef, who has poured millions in to the Cornish economy thorugh his outlets in Padstow and Falmouth, said he believed that port had great potential.
He said; "It's quite unusual to see somewhere with so little development. If you look at Newlyn from my perspective it is absolutely ripe for development. It is athmospheric and it is underdeveloped. It is a bit of a jewel really".
