THEY used to be the White Cross Mission but now they are the Newlyn Gaiety Girls, raising funds for a variety of charities.
They staged four performances of a Christmas panto, Honky Tonk Woman, at Newlyn Meadery.
Written by Chris Leiworthy and directed by Marilyn Pengelly, the show, loosely based on Mother Goose, attracted 350 through the doors despite the icy weather, helping to raise £2,875, part of which will go to St Julia's Hospice.
Mrs Leiworthy said: "I'd like to thank everyone who gave up their time to make this possible. Last year we raised £2,000 for the Cornwall Young Carers Project so it shows what a good fundraiser the panto is."
The choice of the Newlyn Gaiety Girls' charity for 2011 will be chosen at a meeting early in the new year.
The cast was: Judy Richards (Honky Tonk Woman or Mother Goose), Jean Mathews (Gertie Goose), Chris Leiworthy (Gordon Goose), Jude Beckerleg (Ossie, Prince of Darkness), Jacqui Sear (Myrtle, the magic mermaid), Angela Cape (Boris Mayor), Cheryl Oats (Bully Beef), Gail Wing (Lily), Ann Jeffrey (Willie Waddle), Gill Joyce (narrator and King Neptune) – Gabrielle Rurhmund stood in on Wednesday – Donna Richards (Violet rainbow fish and Simon Cowell), Kay Glazebrook (Indigo rainbow fish), Bev Hicks (Coral rainbow fish).
