WIND and rain haven't stopped the crew of Penlee lifeboat, who have been training in all weather for their big fundraising effort next week.
Six members of the Newlyn-based RNLI lifeboat crew are preparing for a gruelling 50-mile cycle ride to Land's End via St Ives on Saturday, January 29, as part of the Swift On Saddles challenge for the charity's SOS Day.
While they're out riding, other volunteers will be doing their annual Soap Our Saloons car wash between 10am and 4pm at the lifeboat station.
You can get your car washed by the crew while enjoying a hot dog from their Sizzle Our Sausages barbecue.
So far the team, led by coxswain Patrick Harvey, have raised more than £600 in sponsorship. But they've still got a way to go to hit their target of £2,000 which will go towards the training and equipment the volunteer crew and lifeguards need to do their lifesaving work safely.
Among those who've donated is actor Timothy Spall, who gave generously after meeting the crew last year while filming Somewhere At Sea.
