SENNEN Cove RNLI went to the aid of a 60ft Newlyn gill-netter, which became disabled with a fractured main engine lubricating oil pipe ten miles west of Sennen Cove.

The lifeboat, City of London III, with six crew on board, launched at around 6.40pm last Wednesday to help the Ben My Chree, which had five crew on board.

A tow was established and the two vessels arrived at Newlyn at 1am when the Ben My Chree was able, under her own power, to enter the harbour and moor up.

With poor sea conditions at Sennen Cove, the lifeboat remained in Newlyn overnight, returning to Sennen Cove on Thursday morning despite what were described as 'interesting' conditions. The weather was fine with a south-easterly wind force four to six and a four to five- metre swell.
