THE SENNEN Cove lifeboat was launched after an empty liferaft from the Ben My Chree was spotted south of Land's End.

The City of London III, a Tamar-class all-weather lifeboat, set off at 11.40am on Monday after receiving a report of an empty liferaft floating near the Carn base buoy. The six crew members on board recovered the raft using the larger lifeboat's Y-class inflatable, which then returned alongside the lifeboat. It is believed the liferaft had floated free from the wreckage of the Ben My Chree, which sank on Friday. Fishermen from Newlyn have also recovered the gill-netter's nets from the point at which she went down off Gwennap Head and returned them to her home port.
