A DONKEY which went missing from a Newlyn house has been safely returned to his owner.

Marcus, a 4ft-long wooden model, made to raise money for a charity that rescues horses, was taken from outside a home on Chywoone Hill.

Karen Stacey, who made him, issued a plea to anyone who knew where he was in last week's Cornishman.

A reader in Gulval said he had spent the last fortnight on her allotment after a friend found him in a skip on The Strand.

"It looked like it was too good to throw away," said Judith Taylor.

She contacted The Cornishman as soon as she read the article on Marcus's disappearance.

"Everybody has been admiring him – except I had renamed him Daisy."

Marcus will soon be reinstated at his roadside spot in Newlyn, and Karen hopes to use him on more fundraising ventures in the future.
