More than half a century after he first visited Cornwall, the Newlyn-based artist Paul Feiler is staging a major retrospective of his work at Lemon Street Gallery in Truro.
Born in Frankfurt in Germany, Paul, who is now in his 90s, has long been regarded as a master of the architecture of space and light.
With work in prestigious collections around the world, Paul's painting of Cape Cornwall fetched a record price at auction in Salisbury, selling for more than four times the £20,000 estimate.
Originally known for his gestural abstract interpretations of natural forms, the artist's style has evolved over six decades to geometric compositions of orbs and circles inspired by investigations into space.
Working from a barn near Penzance that was once the studio of Stanhope Forbes, Paul draws on his experience of the landscape to create interpretations defined by light, tone and space.
Work by Paul's artist wife Catharine Armitage will also be on show.
