A RECORD 134 people, including Penzance Mayor Jan Ruhrmund, put themselves forward for a free blood pressure check at Newlyn Fishermen's Mission on Saturday. Organised by members of the Rotary Club of Mount's Bay to mark Stroke Awareness Day, two qualified nurses carried out the tests which resulted in 24 people being advised to visit their GP, including two who were given urgent referrals. Mount's Bay Rotary Club's next community event is the St Michael's Way Walk on Sunday, May 15 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
