A BLAST from the past has breezed in to Newlyn, with the arrival of a vessel that was once a familiar sight.

Built in 1930 in Porthleven and sold last year, the Lyonesse made a welcome return to the port this week.

The wooden vessel, which was owned by the Pender family from Mousehole, was restored last year at Milford Haven.

She spent several nights moored on the pontoon this week and is now making her way to the River Thames.

Onlookers might have thought they were seeing double: Newlyn's better-known Lyonesse, which is also registered as PZ81, is a Gemini G12 catamaran ring-netter owned by Sam Lambourn.
