THE FOUNDER of Glastonbury Festival will open Newlyn Arts Festival next Friday, starting a week-long celebration of local and contemporary art.
Michael Eavis, who formed the world famous music festival 30 years ago, will open the arts exhibition at Newlyn gallery.
The event is set to deliver its usual eclectic mix of different art forms with the introduction of film, including one by graffiti artist Banksy, a welcome addition.
"Now in our fifth year, we keep growing, while keeping up the tradition of Newlyn artists and craftsmen," said organiser Annie Metcalfe.
"The art exhibition at Newlyn Gallery has come to be known as the flagship of the festival and we are proud to have Michael Eavis as the special guest."
As well as the Banksy film, Exit Through The Gift Shop, the week will showcase archive film and live music with Barbara Santi and the Tre Project.
Mr Eavis will open arts exhibition at 7pm on Friday, September 16.
