A fisherman was airlifted to hospital early yesterday after crushing his fingers on board a boat west of the Isles of Scilly. Falmouth Coastguards were alerted to the incident aboard the Newlyn-based vessel at around 5am. They scrambled both the St Mary's lifeboat and the rescue helicopter from RNAS Culdrose. The injured man was winched off the vessel and flown to the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske, Truro, for treatment.
