A NEWLYN cheese shop celebrated its first anniversary with a pub party to thank their regulars for the support which has made them a success.
Newlyn Cheese and Charcuterie on New Road invited regular customers and trade to the Tolcarne Inn last Friday.
The shop sells a wide selection of British, continental and Cornish cheeses, as well as chutneys and other accoutrements.
Owner Helen Venning explained that its success has been down to keeping the shop to one main line and doing it well.
She said: "I hope that our knowledge of cheese, and the customer's chance to discuss and try products, enhances the customer experience.
"I have plans to do more cheese-themed evenings, some combined with my partner's restaurant, Untitled in Penzance, such as tastings, pairings and the like.
"I have also started a service of alternative wedding and celebration 'cakes'. Tiers of whole cheeses instead of cake, beautifully decorated for the event. I plan to take this further.
"We're looking forward to a very busy Christmas if last year is anything to go by. We are offering hampers, vouchers, Christmas cheese board suggestions and individual small cheeses – but I suggest orders come in by the end of November to avoid disappointment."
