The Newlyn Art Gallery shop has temporarily relocated and opened on Causewayhead in Penzance, while a major £3m refurbishment scheme takes place back at the gallery in Newlyn and The Exchange in Penzance over the forthcoming year. Selling a selection of contemporary, artist-made, original, hand-crafted gifts, the shop has opened for Christmas.
A range of gifts by some of Cornwall's top makers and artists are available including art by Kurt Jackson, Jessica Cooper and Bryan Pearce; jewellery by Pip Macfarlane and Michael Peckitt; ceramics by Darrel Sherlock and Sarah Dunstan and a whole range of further quality crafts, art books etc.
To celebrate the opening, The Gallery Shop is inviting everyone to the open evening this evening from 5-9pm.
The shop will also become the focal point for information on the development of the projects taking place on the two sites at Newlyn and the Exchange.
Earlier this year Newlyn Art Gallery obtained £3million in funding to refurbish the historic building, adding an extension, improving the entrance area and redesigning the garden space.
The other half of the project is the creation of a new gallery space and education facility, plus a gallery shop and caf?? on the ground floor of the old Telephone Exchange in Penzance.
Funding for the project has been obtained from Capital funding schemes, but the gallery gives a special thank you to Penwith Council for their support.
