Emergency services were called to Newlyn on Sunday night after a man fell from a quay on to a boat. Fire crews from Penzance and Camborne were called out at about 9.20pm to help free the man, who had fallen onto a moored fishing boat the Jacoba, according to p-olice apparently after a heavy drinking session.
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "It would seem that he injured himself on some piece of equipment on the boat. It would appear that his injuries were not life-threatening."
The Penzance Coastguard Rescue Team was also involved in the rescue of the man, who is believed to be a crew-member aboard the boat.
Coastguard station officer Tim Stevens told The Cornishman: "Members of the Penzance Coastguard Rescue Team were asked to assist an ambulance crew following reports that a gentleman had fallen about 15 feet from the Mary Williams Quay onto a fishing vessel below.
"The coastguard quickly arrived on the scene and found the gent to be in nasty situation, having landed on the metal trawl.
"The CRT boarded the vessel with the ambulance crew and rendered assistance stabilising the casualty and placing him on a spinal board on a cliff rescue stretcher," added Mr Stevens.
A staff nurse from West Cornwall Hospital's casualty department happened to be with a member of the CRT when the call went out and also attended the incident and offered assistance.
