Because of major reconstruction of the sea wall at Tolcarne,
Newlyn, the bronze memorial to Fishermen Lost at Sea is to be removed for a
time.When it is returned from safe-keeping it is hoped that a new granite base,
fencing, CCTV camera, lighting and other finishing touches will be in
place.
Since its unveiling by the Princess Royal in October it has
attracted thousands of visitors with flowers regularly placed there in memory of
fishermen.
