Gallery up for prize

NEWLYN Art Gallery been shortlisted for this year's Prime Minister's Better Public Building Award.

The gallery joins 20 other buildings in the final from an original entry of 121.

Judges for the Prime Minister's competition describe the £950,000 extension as: “A perfect minimalist addition to a gallery where the view is on a par with the art.”

The winner will be announced on October 8.
