Model fishing boats, original paintings, films of luggers, photographs and more were exhibited by the Newlyn Archive Centre.
It was the second presentation given by the team in its short existence.
Busy
As well as showing what the archive group can do, it gave knowledgeable locals the opportunity to fill in some gaps and expand on what is known.
The archive's Linda Holmes said: "We're taking little steps at the moment but we're hoping to grow. We have only been open for five months and so far we're doing really well.
"The helpers were kept busy all day – lots of people wanted to know things and we wanted to help. Once we have shown people the archive, what we have and how to use it, then it makes it easier for them to come and use it themselves."
She added: "The people who came were really interested and had lots of information to pass on. People brought in photographs and told us things."
Presently there are only a few volunteers at the centre but it is hoped the Friends of Newlyn Archive Centre will provide the group with some new members.
The group aims to develop links within the community and further afield to strengthen the material stored in the centre.
The group meets each Friday from 9.30am to midday at the Trinity Centre, Chywoone Hill.
